From 2014-2016 James performed a score of gigs as part of one of the
UK’s leading wedding bands, The
Hot Hats. For once mostly taking the back seat, while front-man
Alfie
Kingston crooned classic good-time acoustic classics, James played lead
guitar, sang harmonies and (from the front seat) drove Alf and his gear
to gigs around
the country. Every now and again James would take lead vocals or
perform solo while Alf had a break, gave the bar much-needed
support and hoovered up the buffet.
Among the many memorable road trips with Alf was a trip to
London's Canary Wharf, where they set up and played on a yacht while
the planets Venus and Jupiter danced a conjunction in the twilit sky -
just visible in the pic above.
